Anja Sherry
Founder & CEO
Anja was born and raised to Swedish-American journalists in Hong Kong, China. She spent her teen years in Washington, DC and moved to Florida in 2010. She completed her degree in Elementary Education at Rollins College and obtained her State teaching license. Inspired by the child-centered philosophy of Maria Montessori, she proceeded to complete her graduate certification in K-6 Montessori education. After a successful 5 years as a lead Montessori teacher in Lake Mary, FL she decided to follow a calling to public education. Her experience at a struggling Title-1 school in Orlando invigorated her determination to understand and improve the education system for children and educators. While there, she developed programs, such as the Mighty Milers Run Club, and implemented Montessori practices, to provide external structures and outlets for students and families.
Anja moved to Miami in 2019 where her curiosity led her to another branch of education; homeschooling. She helped facilitate a successful homeschool enrichment program, which ultimately and unexpectedly prepared her for the pandemic the world was about to face. Amidst the transition, Anja catapulted into her private teaching and tutoring career and developed a vast network of childcare and education professionals to support children for the long term. She recognized how important it was to be adaptable, resilient, and open-minded, just like the children and families who were adjusting to the changes.
Adaptive Education was born from a strong desire to help as many individuals connect to the right resources for them, and for educators to maintain the love and passion so many may lose fighting through an outdated and unfair education system. Rather than four walls, school becomes a limitless web of truly dedicated, loving, and capable individuals, committed to educating our citizens of tomorrow.
